October is National Dyslexia Awareness month. Payne Education Center, with the help of supporting merchants around Oklahoma City, Edmond, and Norman, is raising funds to help bring awareness about dyslexia by selling the 2018 Premier Card. Premier Card gives shoppers up to 20 percent off at a wide variety of metro-area stores, most of them locally owned and operated. Proceeds from the 19th year of this annual fundraiser help Payne Education Center offer more dyslexia-related services and train teachers to teach reading in a way that works for all children, particularly those with dyslexia.

From October 26 to November 4, participating merchants offer discounts to holders of the Premier Card, which can be purchased for a donation of $50. Sponsors for the fundraiser include: Red Coyote Running and Fitness, Paper + More, Hudiburg Auto Group, Fred Jones Family Foundation and Kirk Hall, The Oklahoman Media Company, and OKC Friday. Additionally, a kickoff event is being held at Nichols Hills Plaza and Classen Curve from 5-7 pm on October 25, the day before the official start of Premier Card 2018.
