Power Up for Reading

Navigate Kindergarten (NK) is a two-day training utilizing Payne’s Navigate Readiness (NR) and Crossing the Bridge (CTB) curricula to help teachers meet their goal of making sure their kindergarten students are ready to read by the first grade. Navigate Readiness utilizes a pre-reading curriculum in order to focus on the prevention of reading difficulties. Participants learn phonological awareness, letter recognition, and alphabet sequencing activities for students as well as oral language activities including vocabulary, comprehension, listening, and verbal expression. Additionally, participants learn multisensory techniques to develop students’ sound-symbol relationships.

Crossing the Bridge teaches trainees how to guide students across the bridge from reading readiness to reading. Trainees learn the advanced (Step 2) predictors for reading success, including lowercase alphabet introduction and reinforcement activities, advanced phonological and phonemic awareness activities including blending and unblending, advanced oral language activities leading to early writing and building solid handwriting techniques, and print concepts.

Training is from 8:30 - 4:30 with a one-hour lunch.

An Early Bird Discount is available to those who pay by May 9, 2025. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, credit card, and purchase orders.

REQUIREMENTS

This training requires you to agree and commit to completing all days of training. You must complete all applicable fields of your user profile prior to registration, or this will delay your screening and approval process.

Participants may terminate their registration by giving Payne Education Center at least one week prior written notice. Even with cancellation, participant agrees to pay, in full, a 10% nonrefundable portion of the registration fee, regardless of when the participant terminates the agreement. There will be a 100% training charge for registered participants who do not cancel their registration and do not attend training (no call, no show). Additionally, trainees who receive scholarship/funding, and do not complete training requirements as outlined, will be asked to repay their scholarship.

This registration may be terminated by Payne Education Center at any time and will give participants advance written notice. Predictably, termination is most likely to happen only if too few teachers register for a training, thus impacting the policies for hosting a training. In the event of a Payne cancellation, all registration fees will be refunded.
