Reading Comprehension

History

Reading Comprehension (RC) is one-day training for fourth through eighth grade teachers to learn techniques to strengthen students’ reading comprehension and retention skills.

Reading Comprehension encourages the mastering of comprehension strategies before applying them to text. The six major strategies of Summarizing, Predicting, Making Connections, Asking Questions, Visualizing, and Clarifying are practiced. It emphasizes the value and power of utilizing a student’s background knowledge to form connections that allow a lasting understanding of what is read.

Figurative language, fluency tips, games, and a copy of Six-Way Paragraphs are included with the course. This one day training and curriculum is $350.
