This two-day OSDE approved training utilizes Structured Literacy curricula to help teachers meet their goal of making sure their kindergarten students are ready to read by the first grade.
Navigate Kindergarten utilizes a pre-reading curriculum in order to focus on the prevention of reading difficulties. Participants learn phonological awareness, letter recognition, and alphabet sequencing activities for students as well as oral language activities including vocabulary, comprehension, listening, and verbal expression. Additionally, participants utilize multisensory techniques to develop students’ sound-symbol relationships.
Trainees learn the predictors for reading success, including lowercase alphabet introduction and reinforcement activities, advanced phonological and phonemic awareness activities, advanced oral language activities, handwriting techniques, and print concepts. This two day class, curriculum, and a class set for 25 students is $875.
